All types of motorhome are home-vehicles with wheels that allow a itinerant tourism with some autonomy. There are different types of motorhomes, mainly there are motorhomes as such and the rest of vehicles called camper or camper.

The main differences are basically in sheet metal versus fiberglass construction type and size.

Then I tell you the types of motorhomes and vehicles for touring tourism: motorhomes, camper vans and other camper vehicles. See how to travel in a new or second-hand motorhome, among all these options and types of motorhome.

Types of motorhome and itinerant tourism vehicles

Motorhome price

The price of a new motorhome ranges from € 40.000 to more than € 200.000, some of which are luxurious.

El new motorhome price The most common is around € 55.000. This price usually includes some extra that the motorhome commercials give away but not all those that you will surely end up putting or needing so it says that you will go to 60.000 with all the extras that you finally put on it. The advantage is that you can add the extras little by little.

If the motorhome is second-hand the second-hand motorhome price It ranges between € 25.000 uros to € 40.000 uros according to years and mileage. You will really see that the second-hand motorhomes do not have very low prices. Currently there is a lot of demand and little supply, which makes these prices quite high.

Apart from this purchase price of a motorhome, you must take into account the maintenance costs of a motorhome. The parking where you keep it, if you can not in your house or garden, vehicle insurance, municipal tax, reviews and ITV and then if it is a new account they must pass the annual tightness check which is between 100 to 200 € uros . This revision makes the guarantee of tightness have it for approximately, according to brand, 10 years. If you do not pass it, you have no guarantee for possible dampness that may come out.

Motorhomes types

Motorhomes are vehicles that, on a van engine and usually fiberglass construction, resemble a house with wheels. It ends up being a caravan mounted integrally to a vehicle chassis.

You can find three types of motorhomes:

Nasturtium motorhome

Nasturtium motorhomes have a spacious and comfortable interior space. Therefore, they allow traveling with family and large groups.

In addition, they are characterized by having a well-designed and very comfortable distribution of rooms including double, single and bunk beds.

They also have well-equipped kitchens. The lounge area is spacious enough for its owners to enjoy. This type of vehicle has a complete toilet (shower, sink and toilet) and in many cases has a separate and independent shower. Luckily, it contains large closets to store all kinds of clothes.

Given the large dimensions of the Capuchin motorhomes, they allow traveling with large families and large groups of friends of up to seven people.

Another of the great advantages when deciding on a nasturtium is the dimensions of the garage. In this type of vehicle there are no excuses for not practicing the sport that we are passionate about like the bicycle.

Low profile motorhome (ours)

The so-called profiled motorhomes are mainly characterized by their versatility, since these vehicles have different dimensions of height and length.

They range from 6 meters in length to almost 8 meters and adapt to the number of people traveling. From a couple to a maximum of five or up to six people.

They are also called semi-integrals. In turn, they are characterized by a more aerodynamic design than the Capuchin motorhomes, with more stability, lower fuel consumption and easier driving.

When choosing a profiled motorhome and depending on our needs, these vehicles come with different layouts.

There are them with a cross bed, where the main advantage is that they come with a larger garage and with more space to put bicycles, skis, table and field chairs, among other things.

However, those with an island bed (or central bed), come with less garage space but more space in the sleeping area. Thus, it creates a more comfortable feeling and with more space to store things (usually 2 wardrobes on both sides of the bed).

Another option is the French distribution. In this type of arrangement, the shower and sink area are separated into different rooms.

As a last alternative, you have the possibility to choose a profiled motorhome with a distribution of two separate beds (individual) with the option of converting it into a single bed.

It is an ideal solution for those couples who have small children, since in the area above the dining room table, there is a tilting bed that allows you to lower it.

Whole grain

The main feature that differentiates them from the rest of motorhomes is that the entire housing and cabin set is integrated and mounted on a chassis. It has the advantage that the space is unique, that is, the house is not separated from the driving area.

This allows the integrals to offer a wider interior space increasing the feeling of comfort and at the same time being compatible with the necessary privacy.

As the beds are at the ends (rear and cabin), the central part of the room can always be used and is not canceled as it happens in other types of motorhomes.

It is fortunate that the integral motorhomes have an orderly and harmonious design, where the spaciousness of the spaces is enjoyed from the first moment. In this type of vehicle harmony, luxury and functionality are combined.

Another important quality of these vehicles is that they have more driving space and greater peripheral vision. They also provide the cabin with a luxurious rear room, and a lift-up front bed as well as a hotel suite bathroom.

They are vehicles that can measure up to 8,80 meters long and there are even those that weigh more than 3.500 kg, so it is not possible to drive them with a driving license B. The maximum number of people who can sleep is four adults and a child.

Van price

The price of a new camper van ranges from € 40.000 to more than € 100.000, some luxury.

El new van price The most common camper is around € 50.000. This price usually includes some extra that the commercials of campers give away, but not all the ones that you will surely end up putting or needing so it says that you will go to 55.000 with all the extras that you finally put on it. The advantage is that you can add the extras little by little as needed.

If the camper van is second-hand the price second hand camper van It ranges from € 10.000 uros to € 40.000 uros according to years and mileage. You will really see that second hand camper vans are not very cheaply priced. Currently there is a lot of demand and little supply, which makes these prices quite high. The cheapest are Californian type vans, many imported from Germany (note the kilometers here) that are over 20 years old and many kilometers long. Large volume vans are considerably more expensive on average and there is less second-hand offer as they are newer in Spain.

Apart from this purchase price of a camper van, you must take into account the maintenance costs of a camper. The parking where you keep it, if you can not in your house or garden, vehicle insurance, city tax, reviews and ITV.

Types camper vans

Camper vans are itinerant tourism vehicles. They are usually smaller than a motorhome, allowing easy driving and maneuverability.

Parking, staying overnight and obtaining a driving license is much easier. It is not considered a special vehicle, but is commercial. Therefore, you can park or stay overnight anywhere without attracting attention.

On the other hand, you do not need a different permit than B, since this authorizes you to drive cars, vans and those vehicles that do not exceed 3.500 kilos (the same as motorhomes if they are less than 3500 kg).

As for fuel consumption, keep in mind that being smaller, diesel consumption is also smaller. The most normal thing is that the camper vans have a consumption of about 8 liters per 100 kilometers.

What is the interior like ?: The design of camper vans is highly variable and will also depend on the user and how much you are going to use it.

Either way, you can incorporate a seat, bed, table, kitchen, fridge ... Even a bathroom or more than one bed. And it is that every time the manufacturers of this type of camper vans include more novelties designed for the comfort of the users.

You can find two types in the market:

California type

Our old California T4 was a very manageable van, small and accessible to any remote location. It looked almost 4x4.

These types of campers are great on the one hand for the accessibility they give and the ease of driving.

You can also store them in the same parking lot as a car and use them daily, without the need for additional vehicles. By cons, the space for families is very small and you have to play tetris continuously for everything, without having a bathroom (although you can have a portable chemical toilet) or an indoor shower, which is a bit more uncomfortable.

In addition, the upper bed is a tent type that if you go with children and you like to ski, it is not comfortable at all.

Large volumes

These vans provide an intermediate solution, between the California type and a motorhome, in terms of accessibility and ease of driving.

They are around 6 meters long and the good thing is that they are narrower than motorhomes, about 30 cm less on average.

On the other hand, they usually have beds set up and there is no need to play tetris to make and undo beds. In addition, they have a sink and shower which is the great change between a California and large volumes.

Price camper van or other vehicle

The price of campering a van ranges from € 500 to the money you want to spend. The most normal thing between isolating the vehicle well, putting a piece of furniture with a sink and a water tank and a bed is about 2000-3000 € uros. Now if you have to put a lifting roof for a second bed, static heating, kitchen, etc ... you see adding.

El price camper van or other vehicle It depends a lot on you and what vehicle you want to do it on. If you already have the van to camperize or the vehicle the cost will be much lower.

In addition you can camperize it yourself by building your wooden modules and saving you a lot of money or you can buy camperization kits sold by some brands or camperizers.

It is certainly the cheapest option if you already have a van or a micro van, the so-called micro-camper.

Other camper vehicles

With a little skill or a good camper professional, any vehicle can be camperized.

By campering we mean adapting or converting it into a vehicle that serves for touring tourism, just like the existing types of motorhome. This will require at least having a bed available in the vehicle.

There are as many types of camper vehicles as there are types of existing vehicles:

Buses like the one being built @travellingfamilybus

4 × 4 rancheras type.

Trucks or even trailers.
Any car with a roof top store that they sell specialized.

5. And any other imaginable vehicle. If you search the internet there are everything camperized tuc-tucs, camperized motorcycles.
